Server performance issue
« on: April 02, 2012, 05:46:42 PM »
Hi All,

I am having performance issue with my VPS server. Server is up and running but many websites are unreachable. Server is responding very slow. Any idea how we can check the server and db performance? Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks

Joseph

Hi Bumblebee,

I would recommend to go to shell and check the resource usage using top command.
you can try #top and then caps lock and M and it will show you top PIDs consuming more resources like CPU, Memory etc. :-)

Thanks.

Hi Joseph, Thanks for quick reply. Really appreciate!!!!

I am currently looking into this and what I found is that mysqld using almost 100% CPU every 5 mins. Is there anyway I can see what db or user utilizing too much cpu resource. Really appreciate help.

Thanks

Hi,

Can you try command mysqladmin pr and see if you can find the issue. It can be any sql query which is running contiuously and using resources.

Thanks

Thanks Cloudguy. I found the issue. There's a sql query which was causing the issue. I optimized it now it seems to be fine now. I'll monitor it. Hopefully issue is resolved.

Thanks again, guys. :)
